Blossom Gardens is a vibrant, culturally diverse community in Northeast Salem, offering quality, affordable homes for refugees resettling in the area, as well as individuals and families within the income guidelines. This affordable housing community features nine garden-style buildings and a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom units. All units feature bright, open layouts, abundant green space, a community building, and resident services provided by our nonprofit partner Salem For Refugees.
Originally intended to be market-rate units, Blossom Gardens was acquired in a partnership between Salem for Refugees, Home First, and Green Light Development. Informed by the unique needs of the refugee community, extensive improvements were made to the property, including remodeled garages, a renovated community room, and a comprehensive outdoor play area. The community has units set aside for refugees referred by Salem for Refugees, although anyone who meets the income requirement is eligible to apply. The units feature an open design, energy-saving appliances, in-unit laundry, and patio/balconies, and are affordable at or below 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI). Salem for Refugees is a community-based nonprofit offering resident services including employment coaching, mental health programs, and programs for children and families.
